BMS Flight Model Database Installation Guide Created by the BMS Other Fighters Mafia (BMSOFM) 1/16/22 Introduction: As new flight model database entries are created for the jets of BMS,we look forward to their inclusion into the main BMS installation and other Theaters. In cases where that is not done, we hope to provide single step installers. However, as some prefer to work directly with the files, this Guide will provide the BMS Membership a step-by-step process to install these data "Packs". Some jet's Packs may not have all the items listed below. The F18C Pack also contains the original LODs and acdata files, for reference. It is advised that you save/backup your original files as you proceed. If you have any trouble, feel free to contact the BMS Other Fighters Mafia, either via the BMS Forum or our Discord. Part A - Misc. Files/Folders: 1) acdata, which can include .dat and/or afm.dat file(s) . Place these files, not the entire folder, into the BMS 4.xx/Data/Your theater/Sim/Acdata folder, replacing the files already there. 2) ckpt-contain files, usually in a named or numbered folder. For example, the F18C Hornet is "1799" This entire folder is placed in BMS 4.xx/Data/your theater/Art/CkptArt, replacing what is already there. 3) skins- any .DDS files here are placed into BMS 4.xx/Data/your theater/Terrdata/Objects/Korea Obj folder, replacing those that are there. The Hornet Pack also contains some CVN-65 skins. 4) Sounds, or "OFM" folder.-this folder will contain a folder with the jet's name, and/or other ofm files, and a f4sndtbl.text. Place the inner folder (with the jet's name) and f4sndtbl.txt. into BMS 4.xx/Data/your theater/Sounds folder Part B - LOD's and extracting/building the database. The 3D aircraft LOD (Level Of Detail) model file(s) will be entered into the BMS Objects database. There is a very specific process to install them properly. Fortunately, this process only needs to be done once per install and/or theater. 1) Go to the BMS 4.xx/Tools/3DDBuilder folder and copy/paste both the 3ddb_builder app. and FreeImage.dll to BMS 4.xx/Data/your theater/Terrdata/Ojects folder 2)From the Install Pack, copy the "3ddb_builder" and "extract" Window Batch Files and the textures folder and paste them to the BMS 4.xx/data/your theater/Terrdata/Objects folder 3) left click on Extract Batch file, and let the process run. 4a) Installing the database- The Pack will contain a folder with the "jet's name Main Model". Inside that will be another folder containing the LOD's and parent.dat file. This folder will have either the jet's names, or a number. For example 1799 for the F18C, 1958 for F18E, etc.. Place this folder into the BMS 4.xx/Data/your theater/Terrdata/Objects/Parents folder, replacing the one that's there. 4b)Database entries may involve more then one Parent folder. For example, the F18C Pack contains LOD's for the wing modeling (folder 1462). In that case , repeat Step 4a for that Parent folder, as well. 5) In Objects, left click on the build Windows Batch executable File you created, and let it's process run. 6) Go enjoy your new jet! Note-1) As above, this process only needs to be done once.If there are any subsequent LOD updates, you just do Part B steps 4-5. -2)If your jet's Pack does not have LOD changes, you do not need to do the extract/build process. Just do the appropiate step(s) from Part A
